Drop and Give Me 20 Minutes: 20 minute fitness sessions in the park
NEW! Saturday morning classes are now available. Starting at 8.15am in North Hagley, these classes include a warm up and cool down/stretch taking the total session time to 40-45 minutes. $15 casual session, $50 for a 5 Saturday concession card, first visit is FREE. Saturdays you'll find us at North Hagley Park - we'll meet at the North West corner, across Deans Ave from Girls High.
A great way to fit exercise into your work day - join us at South Hagley for 20 minute sessions covering strength, cardio, circuit and Tabata training styles. This is a unique format that sees you well and truely worked out in your lunch break - but still back in the office in time to eat some lunch.
The sessions cater for ALL fitness levels - if you're a beginner you'll work hard but at your own level...and if you're really fit we have extra tricks up our sleeves to make sure you get a challenging workout too.
Session details:
From July 14 - Mon, Wed and Fri lunchtimes (12.40pm start)
First session free, then your choice of:
- $10 a session (casual - pay on the day)
- $60/month AP for as many sessions as you want to attend
(bonus - includes the longer Sat sessions)
- $75 10 visit concession card
Format:
Walk or jog from your office, or park your car over at the Horticultural Hall and jog or walk briskly to the meeting point - this is your warm up.
At 12.40 we start the clock, and for the next 20 minutes we'll challenge your body and get you stronger and fitter.
At 1pm we stop for a stretch, then you cool down by jogging or walking back to work or your car. If you're within 10 mins of the netball courts at South Hagley you should be back at work in 45 mins - leaving 15 mins for a shower and some food!
Places are limited, so do let me know you're going to join us (aim to arrive 5-10 minutes early for your first session) - and it means I can keep an eye out for you too.
What other participants have said:
"20 mins means stuff is short and sharp (as I get bored doing
the same thing for too long and lose motivation)" - Angie (7months pregnant)
"I enjoyed all of it. It was hard, and I moaned and groaned about it, but that’s only because I’m not as fit as I should be. I’m thinking that the more I do it, the better I will cope with when the session is over." - Len
"I found I was working at an average of 8-9 for a majority of it, bordering on 10 sometimes... but the sessions can be as hard or easy as you like, so should suit anybody" - Chris
"Really had a lot of fun." - Jac
