Healthy Eating
It's pretty confusing out there. Every time we turn on the TV, or pick up a magazine or newspaper, it seems there is new research, new superfoods, new carcinogens (cancer causing foods), new diets...how do we figure out what's real and what's hype?
Now I'm not a nutritionist or a dietician. But I HAVE struggled with serious weight issues most of my life, and I HAVE managed to lose 50kg and keep it off - so chances are I have a bit of an idea what might work and what is unlikely to be sustainable.
So if you've tried all the diets, maybe with some short term success... if you really do try to follow the food pyramid and eat healthy but the extra weight just won't shift...if you HAVE to have a daily sugar fix to get you through that afternoon energy trough...if you just want to feel in control of your nutrition because of a family history of type 2 diabetes or metabolic syndrome or heart disease, well it might be worth having a chat.
We don't prescribe diets, supplements, shakes, or any specific nutrition plan, but we can help you navigate through the minefield of information to find what will work for YOU, and we can also give you some simple tools that will help you keep on track.
A good nutritious diet combined with regular exercise will literally give you energy to burn, and have you feeling fit and fabulous.
Did you know....
- People overestimate the calories they burn at the gym, and underestimate the calories they eat as a 'reward' for being good.
- Being overweight, but fit and active, is better for your health than being a slim couch potato
- If you smoke, it puts strain on your body equivilent to carrying an extra 40kg. Stop smoking. Now. Seriously.
- Calories in vs calories out might make for simple equations but unfortunately our individual bodies don't make it that simple. We all know people who can eat junk all day and are skinny beanpoles. We also know people that eat healthily and still can't drop excess weight. Im most cases it's the type of calories you eat, not so much the number of calories, that affects weight gain/loss.
- It IS possible to drop significant amounts of weight, and keep it off. In my immediately family (myself, some siblings and their partners - 6 people) we have dropped around 200kg.
So if we can be of help to you, to help you get HEALTHY and FIT and STRONG and in CONTROL, get in touch. We'd love to chat!
